CMLC came to us looking for some conceptual work to face their proposed architectural sentinels as part of Calgary East Village redevelopment. I proposed historical imagery of pioneering Calgary figures including Captain Deane, Chief Crowfoot, Colonel Macleod and John Ayer. These 'pillars' of Calgary's past were to appear as a complement to the structure so we opted for a subdued application to let the under-lighting pop. A nice complement to the historic imagery and a great print production solution was to halftone the images to give them that newspaper/old-timey look but still modern and 'timely'.
